International conference “Empowerment of Public Health, Health Care and Wellbeing - Education, Research, and Practice"

 

Over a period of more than 80 years, thousands of health professionals in several generations and different specialties have been educated in Tallinn Health Care College. The contribution made by our alumni to better health and life of Estonian people, is precious.  

To celebrate our academic accomplishments in health sciences, the international conference “Empowerment of Public Health, Health Care and Wellbeing - Education, Research, and Practice" will be carried out on November 6-7, 2024, in Tallinn, Estonia. 

 

The conference focuses on health and wellbeing and its relation to:

- Digital Health

- Ethical Issues in Healthcare

- Interdisciplinarity in Healthcare

- Occupational Healthcare and Wellbeing

- Patient-centered Care

- Promotion of Health and Wellbeing

- Quality of Care

Call for abstracts and articles

All abstracts and presentations should be in English. The submitted abstracts (oral presentation, poster) will be reviewed and scored by an international committee. Authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their submission by June 20, 2024.

Abstract submissions should include the following information:   
• Paper title 
• Names and surnames for each author must be provided. Do not include degrees or titles.  
• Affiliations: Each author should be listed by institution, city, and country. 
• Paper abstract (max 250 words). 
• The format of the abstract: Background, Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusions. 
• File Format: PDF 
 

The conference abstract book will be published in the Proceedings, indexed with an ISBN and ISSN codes.

We would like to invite you to submit your research work (presented at this conference) for the publication in our upcoming issue in cooperation with the Estonian Academy of Sciences. 

Original Research Articles and Literature reviews should present original findings, which will be considered for publication in international scientific open access journal the Proceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. The special issue will be published in autumn 2025.  

Research articles should be supported by relevant illustrations and tables and preferably not exceed 26 double-spaced pages (max 12 printed pages), including Abstract, illustrations, tables, References, Summary and Conclusions. 

Studies that have already been published or are currently under consideration for publication elsewhere are not accepted. Papers that do not comply with the requirements will not be published. 
One author can contribute to maximum three articles. The guide for authors can be found HERE.

Guidelines for the Registration: 

 

Register to the conference through the dedicated online ‘Registration’ page by following the easy registration process. Fill in the required information to complete the registration and proceed to payment.  

When paying by bank transfer, at the end of the registration process an official document called "PRO FORMA document" will be emailed to you with the amount to be transferred and our bank data so please proceed to the END of the online process. The corresponding final invoice will be emailed back to you once payment has been done and our bank account credited. Please note, that invoices are automatically issued upon payment reception with the information you have provided online.     
    
Upon payment reception, the invoice will be automatically generated and sent to the email you provided online when registering. Please verify your spam/junk inbox before contacting us.

Cancellation policy: 

  • Cancellation requests received 2 months before the congress: 70% of the registration fees will be refunded. 
  • Cancellation requests received less than 2 months before the congress: there will be no refund. 

Cancellation must be made in writing and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Keynote Speakers

Luca Bertocchi

Luca Bertocchi is an onco-hematology nurse at the Maggiore Hospital of Trieste (Italy). He worked for two years at St George’s University Hospital in London (UK) and completed a six-month mobility program at Boston College in the Connell School of Nursing (United States) under the mentorship of Professor Dorothy Jones, former president of NANDA-International and current Director of the Gordon program. He is working on research topics regarding Standardized Nursing Terminologies, Nursing Information Systems, Simulation, and Nutrition.

Mgr. Ing. Alena Lochmannová 

  
 

Mgr. Ing. Alena Lochmannová, Ph.D. et Ph.D., MBA is an ethnologist working on medical anthropology, especially on perinatal health, patients' emic perspectives, culturally sensitive care, body modifications and rituals related to psychosocial health, and an industrial engineer working on the education of non-medical health professionals using virtual reality, as well as the use of virtual reality in rehabilitation. She works at the Faculty of Health Care Studies of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic and at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic. There she works as an assistant professor, researcher and at the Faculty of Health Care Studies as a vice-dean for internal and external relations. She has extensive experience in research projects within international multidisciplinary teams.

Kay Sundberg, RN, PhD and Associated Professor in Nursing working at Karolinska Institutet (KI) Stockholm, Sweden. She is also the director of the research school of health science at KI. Her nursing background is in oncology nursing, and she is currently a senior lecturer in the nursing programs at KI. Her early research was about quality of life and sense of coherence (SOC) among survivors of childhood cancer and the current research is about patient reported outcomes (PRO) and support through digital technology during and after treatment of cancer. In all her research the concept of SOC forms a base for a person-centered approach.

Professor Natalja Istomina is a Director of Institute of Health Sciences of Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University. She was graduated from international nursing doctoral school in Finland and defended her doctoral thesis in University of Turku. Natalja Istomina has wide research experience in International projects since 2001 year. Also, she was a leader of successful projects in Lithuania.  In 2010, Natalja was involved as an expert of EU in TAIEX activities. Natalja Istomina has experience of 23 years in teaching for health care students in Bachelors’, Masters’ and Doctoral studies programmes in Lithuania, European and Asian countries. Natalja has rich experience in highest level management and leadership. In 2011-2016 was an elected member of Klaipeda city Council. In 2014-2016, she worked a vice-minister of Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuanian Republic with the responsibility of health education. Her main research interests are health care providers’ competence, quality of health care, health education, health policy.

A scientific poster or visual presentation that summarizes your research findings will be displayed at conference. Authors are invited to present the results of their research in 3 minutes (at the poster session). A ´Best Poster Award' is planned for the poster!
